Devonport/Cheltenham

Profile

While North Shore City is quite new, the communities that amalgamated in 1989 to form the new city are rich in heritage. Devonport full of history and heritage brings the nostalgia of the 1900's (Victorian & Edwardian) with old villas beautifully restored. With the central township full of restaurants and cafes Devonport on a sunny day is full of visitors out for a drink, bite or just to relax. Well known as the creative area of the Shore, Devonport has many art galleries and pottery houses and each and every shop seems to have an artistic impression.
Devonport has two extinct volcanic cones, Mt Victoria and North Head where staggering views can be seen from their summit.
